Reviews - Mio A701
Here’s what other people are saying about the Mio A701 with GPS:
The MIO A701 is a jack of all trades device designed to replace your mobile phone, GPS unit and PDA. Sporting a touch screen but no keypad, the versatile A701 also boasts a 1.3 megapixel camera and both MP3 and video players. However the features list is a little bare in other areas. It is let down by a lack of Wi-Fi and 3G support, as well as outdated specifications; notably USB and Bluetooth 1.2.

The A701 has an integrated GPS receiver, and includes proprietary navigational software which can guide you with left-right directions all over Australia. The A701 isn’t just a GPS unit though, it’s a fully functional PDA with the Windows Mobile 5 operating system and of course performs the usual phone functions such as SMS and MMS messaging, and not forgetting voice calls!

Our first day with the Mio had us wondering in in fact this was a 3 in one device, phone / PDA and GPS, we were soon to test the Phone part as a call came in while LP was on his way to work having swapped his SIM card in. As a mobile the RF performance seemed on a par with an average mobile and the sound quality was pretty good. The main downside is the size as it’s like clamping and iPaq to the side of your face to make a call, not good should you be illegally using it while driving (not that we were).
